American Pride is the fourteenth studio album by the country music band Alabama, released in 1992 on RCA Records Nashville. It included the singles "I'm in a Hurry (And Don't Know Why)", "Take a Little Trip", "Hometown Honeymoon" and "Once Upon a Lifetime". "I'm in a Hurry" was a Number One hit for the band, while the other singles all reached the Top Five on the U.S. country charts. "Between the Two of Them" was later released as a single by Tanya Tucker from her 1994 album Fire to Fire.
AllMusic Review by Brian Mansfield
So much happened between Alabama's arrival on the scene and the country boom of the early '90s that by the time the band released American Pride, they were among the genre's aging veterans. As such it was a little late to expect big surprises. So everything that Alabama's known for is here: full-group harmonies, small-town Southern virtues and common-sense patriotism. The group turned "I'm in a Hurry (And Don't Know Why)" into a big hit, but it's no surprise the best songs are about folks who settled in for the long haul, happily married parents ("Between the Two of Them"), and Richard Petty ("Richard Petty's Fans").
